Saheliyon Ki Bari

Saheliyon Ki Bari, this garden was a gifted by King of the Udaipur to his queen so that she could spend time with 48 maids who came with her in the dowry.

This place was not in our itinerary as I did not hear great reviews about it but Balwant out of habit stopped the car there, so we thought to give it a quick look.

The entry fee was nominal at Rs 5. A guide offered to show us around for Rs 50 only.

The guide was passionately talking about old Hindi movies (Guide, Mera Saya etc.) which were shot here. Half a century back it could have brought excitement among visitors but that era is gone and the guide still seemed to be trapped in there.

There is also a museum with rich collection of royal households but we did not know about that and the guide also did not bother to mention.

The garden is beautiful but not extraordinary. There are better things to see. If you visit this place expecting a beautiful garden then you will not be disappointed.

The hidden agenda of the guide was to take us for shopping (most likely to earn a hefty commission). We were not in mood for shopping so asked him to excuse us.

Located at the central place, the garden attracts lot of visitors.
