Neemach Mata Temple
I had asked Balwant about a vantage point looking over the lakes to shoot the sunrise. Balwant suggested Neemach Mata temple. I had no idea so I readily accepted. At 5:15 am in the morning he picked me up from the Flora hotel. After 10 minutes drive he stopped on the side of the road and pointed towards an infinite series of steps and said, "This is the way, sir. I will be waiting for you here". I had no clue that the path to the temple was not drivable, so here I was climbing 900 meters of steep stairs as fast as I could so that I do not miss the sun rise.
I am so glad that I visited the temple. The priest of the temple was very nice. He told me the history of the temple and offered me tea. The story is: "The statue of the goddess was found under a Neem tree by the ancestors of the priest while they were ploughing the land. They brought the statue on the hill and built a temple."
I also met a group of health conscious people who climb here every morning. It was early morning so there was no crowd and the atmosphere was serene. The sunrise view from here is mesmerizing, no words for it.
Thankfully the temple is not commercialized. Walking all the way up gives you a sense of achievement and you can almost feel the divine presence. After taking the photos and blessing of Neemach Mata, I climbed down.
From this image you can have an idea of the elevation of Neemach Mata temple. [Image courtesy: Google Maps]
