Jag Mandir is a palace built on a small island in the lake Pichola. The construction of the palace was started in 1551 by Maharana Amar Singh and later completed in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh after whom the palace too its name.

This palace was used by royal families as a summer resort and organizing events. The interesting fact is, emperor Shahjahan during his rebellion in 1623 took shelter in this palace. In 1857 during the war of independence many European families were saved by giving them refuge on this island.

The visit to Jag Mandir is included with the city palace boat ride. From here you get a fantastic view of the City Palace.

Currently it is used to host various events and ceremonies mostly related to weddings of rich and famous.
