Summer palace (Dariya Daulat Bagh)

Day 4 cont. – 28th December 2011

Summer palace (Dariya Daulat Bagh)
Tipu Sultan's summer palace is made of teak wood and was built in the late 18th century. It is a simple structure surrounded by beautiful gardens.

There was not much of a crowd, and it appeared as though not many people were interested in visiting there. The palace is quite humble, and it seems that Tipu Sultan was not much into showing off.

There is a huge garden outside the palace with flower beds and fountains.

The palace has small rooms with beautiful frescoes on the wall and ceiling. The paintings are in poor condition because they have no protection.

Photography was strictly prohibited inside. Looking at the condition of the palace, I thought that the next time I visit there might not be anything left to see, so I clicked a few photos clandestinely.

As we were leaving the palace I saw an employee at the exit gate. There was a room beside the exit with a beautiful painting on wall. I desperately wanted to take a photo.

I should have restrained myself, knowing that the person has seen me with my camera hanging around my neck, but my photographic greed has no limits. As soon as I clicked the photo, I heard a loud voice behind me say, "What are you doing? Put the cap on camera! Put it now!".

I had almost forgotten how it feels to be scolded. Joohi was quite sympathetic to me :) My only regret was, I got away with all the shots except for the last one which I knew I should not have gone for.
